JUDGE'S REVIEWS
  • OMURA, Junko

    ACQUA

In the Realitive category, there were many works whether it is the makeup or models that looked rather familiar to me, so it might be good to try something newer. In the Avant-garde category, I think the overall quality of color, photography and fashion is getting higher.
As an avant-garde piece of work there are various things to emphasize on, but the first thing is to have an impact so that the model will not be left behind.
Overall, I think the total balance is extremely good. There were many impressive and refined works.
  • MIYAMURA, Hiroki

    AFLOAT

I think the quality of Realitive works has improved immensely. To be honest, I am not too sure if that is a good sign as I am also concerned that it is overly stylish.
On the other hand, I think the quality of Avant-garde works are improving year by year. I feel the change of the silhouette, and it is nice to have something goggly and frizzy that feels refreshing. The crisp look may look old but I was captivated by those works.
I am looking forward to next year's too.
  • KIMURA, Naoto

    air

In the Realitive category, I feel that the range of things that can be expressed in real life is expanding. I believe that self-expression in areas apart from reality will shape the beauty industry's future.
Within the Avant-garde category, there is time and on the contrary I also felt there is reality.
I feel the arrival of a world where avant-garde is no more what it used to be.
I would like to see more creative works without setting too much limitations in the future too.
  • IWATA, Toshiyasu

    Angelica

I think the works that get attention in the Realitive category were outstanding in terms of how one could bring out the charming side of the model. After all, I felt that a good work is created based on how serious one takes their model for.
The Avant-garde category was very impressive, but I also noticed quite a number of works were similar to the past or seen on Pinterest. I think it is also very important to "subtract" by removing unnecessity and keeping only the good.
I think it is undeniable that many works tend to be much the same. So, confront your model and pursue only what best suits them, and head for "simple is the best" by removing all unnecessity.
  • KOMATSU, Toshiyuki

    ANTI

There were many superb Realitive designs. The designs do not only have impact but also have both beauty and femininity, and it seemed to be a walking piece of work.
The avant-garde I imagine is strong yet expresses the beauty and perfection of women, and I believe that there needs to be a design that allows you to feel femininity.
However, I think that a design that places priority on the balance and impact which you have never seen before with no sense of femininity is good for nurturing unique hair and make-up designs. But, if considering the sake of the growth of hair stylists or salon work, I think the direction may be biased towards the modeling world.
  • CHIKA

    artifata

I felt that the idea of Realitive is becoming more widespread. In real life, it is the hair designer's duty to help make people's life shine, and looking from that point of view, many simple and beautiful hair styles can be seen.
The impression I had for the Avant-garde category was that I felt the overall has been refined. I was able to see many works with great sense although it is a theme that focuses only on overdoing.
In such difficult times, I think I was able to reaffirm the possibilities of creativity with the hair designers through this contest.
  • OBAYASHI, Hiroyuki

    ASCH

In the Realitive category, there are works that are overly real or too creative among the winners which I think is a waste on their works.
In the Avant-garde category, I think there is a need to create avant-garde for this era. We, as a beauty artist shall hone our original ideas to move the world.
I think overall is good, but I wish for a little more refining in original ideas.
  • KOJO, Takashi

    DADA CuBiC

The Realitive approach (photography skills, hair style and etc.) is decided based on both good and bad, and although it is in high-quality but it lacks of originality.
In the Avant-garde category, there were many high-quality works. After all, when it comes to avant-garde, it is easy to imagine such strong world view. I noticed there were many works of similar taste. I feel that as your understanding on avant-garde expands, your way of expressing it expands too.
The position of PHOTOWORKS is wonderful because it is penetrating into the beauty industry even by just looking from the field, and it is also getting higher level of recognition.
  • DOBASHI, Hayato

    DIFINO

In the Realitive category, the quality of the overall work is getting higher, and looking at it makes me feel excited. Although there were many works which have utilized the lightings well, but I felt that keeping it within the boundary is difficult too as there were also works that were close to avant-garde.
In the Avant-garde category, there were also many breakthrough works and I feel that the range of design is actually infinite. However, our work is to beautify women, and I think overly exaggerated works are kind of unacceptable.
  • TAKAHASHI, Masaki

    ELENA

The top-ranking works in the Realitive category are simple, but there were many high quality works that were particular about the points that they wanted to show. On the other hand, there were many things that depended on the atmosphere of the photography rather than the techniques.
Avant-garde consists a wide-range of themes and the point to this is how to bring out the freshness and originality of this, but surprisingly there were many works that made me wonder if I have ever seen this before. On the other hand, there were also a few of the works that challenged new expression and I also felt that the possibilities of expression in hair design is bright.
Much energy is needed in a new challenge but I felt that we can challenge and grow through your own design work under any circumstances.
  • PAN, Yulan

    GODHANDS

I feel that the designers' standards in the Realitive category has become much higher than I expected in all aspects from hair color and make-up to photography. However, there are also some works that are still not really there yet.
The works in the Avant-garde Category are surprisingly higher than before. You can clearly sense the originality of everything from the overall inspiration, fashion, make-up, color, silhouette, background to photography.
Believing that the efforts of the designers will produce even more outstanding works, I am looking forward to 2021 DA-PHOTO WORKS-.
  • KOMATSU, Atsushi

    HEAVENS

Realitive has a nice edge but I am fascinated by works with natural stance. I think the priority is on the material and unique aesthetic sense, and as a designer we need to know the way of capturing the universal femininity. I wish they could stick to their personality with Realitive thoughts.
Isn't is better not to regard avant-garde as extreme? I hope there will be a higher awareness in looking at it as an image linked to fashion. I feel that by adding even a small amount of freshness, characteristic and femininity can transform it into something that can influence many.
I am thankful and respectful to everyone who have participated despite the coronavirus outbreak. The courage and decisions made at such difficult times will all be praised. Continue to draw dreams. Be that role model. I think such activity or educational approach is very important.
  • ZHOU, Bojun

    IDOL-PLUS

In the Realitive category, there were many eye-catching and creative works.
In the Avant-garde category, I was very impressed with the quality of works that have improved year by year.
There are many outstanding works that express the creativity and inspiration of the designers in DA PHOTOWORKS. Participating in such contest will help improve the designer's imagination and creativity. I hope there will be more designers participation in the future.
  • KOBAYASHI, Tomohiro

    kakimoto arms

I find it difficult to adjust the degree of Realitive, but I think that high-quality designs can be created by subtracting, narrowing down the design points, and refining them.
In the Avant-garde category, there were many very high-quality designs that surprised me and made me wonder if I could come up with such ideas myself, which has inspired me immensely!
In recent years, it has been easy to collect information but on the other hand, design expressions tend to be similar. It would be good to take time to refine the design idea and idea source, and take on the challenge of originality.
  • TSUKAMOTO, Shigeru

    k-two

I feel the passion of these works that I have judged this time, and I had the thought of wanting to share them! My impression on Realitive lasted on works that broke through limitations with creation using real model's hair that seems to be fascinating.
It was impressive to see works that pursued on how to showcase the overall impression with the rich ideas in avant-garde. I think that the overall image of avant-garde is important, which is why I was captivated by works that express the thoughts of the creators with a worldview.
  • UCHIDA, Souichiro

    LECO

I think the definition of Realitive or I would say the boundary line is very difficult, but it is important to understand the reality and make the best use of your worldview and model.
When comes to avant-garde, I think it is important to have the techniques backed by some experience and also insensitivity that is not bound by common sense in order to produce an unshakable strength, and in fact I think only very few can do that. It is difficult to combine all at once whether it is the elements to suit the model, your desired worldview, never-before-seen ideas or subtraction to make things good. It is always a challenge. I think one who continuously creates will reach the optimal solution.
I have been asking at this very important time, "Why are the hair stylists this time so creative?" Nothing can stop them when comes to creating. I hope this thought will be further transmitted into the beauty industry.
  • MIYOSHI, shinji

    LILI

Since this is Realitive, the hair can be natural but the composition needs to be creative or using some trick such as breaking the balance between make-up and hair will do too.
I like the commitment they have shown towards their works!! There were many inspiring works.
A good work cannot be done without the right model, outfit, make-up and camera. I think the most important thing is how much time were spent on it. Creating a style that matches the theme is very difficult, and it is where you can showcase your originality. This has just reminded me that as a hair designer we will have to continuously keep up to date with designs.
  • OKAMURA, Takahisa

    MINX

I think the level in the Avant-garde category is particularly high this year. There were many new design ideas, and it is a really good thing.
As for the Realitive category, I think it will be good if we have slightly newer hair designs. As most of them were either wolf or wet textures, so I am hoping to see new trends the next time.
I think it is necessary to be creative in such era. I believe as the quality of the work improves, there will definitely be growth in the hair stylist. Please continue to work towards this path.
  • REN, Yuping

    MY HAIR SALON

The design skills of hair designers are obviously improving, and even with the spread of coronavirus, I still see many quality works and it gave me pride and hope towards the beauty industry.
Realitive ideas have already been engraved in the minds of designers, so I think that enjoying and being enthusiastic about design creation and embodying imagination and creativity through practice will lead to individual differentiation. This also leads to customers' happiness.
DA-PHOTO WORKS- is there to boost the growth of hair designers, and it is a good opportunity to lead to the evolution of the beauty industry. I hope for more designers participation next year, which will lead to the evolution of overall design capabilities.
  • FUKUI, Tatsumasa

    PEEK-A-BOO

The Realitive category is a category where its main attraction focuses on the design between Real X Creative, but rather than focusing on the trendy forms, what caught my attention was mostly designs that were focused on models. By pursuing realism further, I think the values that we have seen will appear in ones work.
In the Avant-garde category, there are many Realitive-like works too. I think there are individual differences in how one feel, but in the Avant-garde category, I think the first thing to decide is the "worldview". It should not be a work that is out of frame but to keep in mind that a work that has a story will turn out to be a work that is appealing to people.
Overall, there were many high-quality works that were impressive. Since it is a contest, there are tendency and strategy, but on top of that please be passionate and continue creating.
  • KEVIN

    QTIE

In the Realitive category, lights were well utilized and the standards were extremely high.
In the Avant-garde category, there were many works that speak the creators' thoughts, and that really surprised me and at the same time it was a valuable experience for me.
This is a very good project that takes on challenges in a different way due to the coronavirus, taking beauty one step ahead and allowing us to interact with one another. I look forward to more wonderful works next year too.
  • SHIGEMORI, Masayoshi

    Rougy

It is a pity that there is no difference between Realitive and Avant-garde...
There were still many hairstyles in the Realitive category that cannot be taken to the street. Not to mention, make-up and outfit are overly done. It is supposedly to be done in avant-garde, and it feels like it has been released to a different category.
In the Avant-garde category, there were very little breakthrough works, and there were many that have yet to understand what is avant-garde about.
Since everyone is getting better at Realitive, I think it will be good to pay more attention to avant-garde. If you can create more creative things, I think it is better to raise that standard because you will have more things you need as a hair designer such as balance, speed, technique, and creativity.
  • TAMAKI, Asuka

    snob enVAmp

In the Realitive category, I have chose the piece that got me startled and I thought is was adorable as though I turned around to look at this really adorable girl on the street.
After all, I think it is very important to feel comfortable when comes to the balance between "expressing things that you are doing now" and "to further bring out the attractive side of your model" . There is a balance between time and trend, but I think as long as you have the confidence in what you think is attractive, and if it fits her at that time, it will be a piece of work that is going to shine.
